What a Saturday of such glorious triumph! in which the soul of God’s Only Begotten Son, who at the same time is the Son of Man, opens by the fruit of His Redemption the sumptuous Gates of Eternity, closed since the earthly Paradise by the sin in rebellion of our First Parents; and the old floodgates are raised before the impetuous passing of irresistible power of the soul of God’s immolated Only Begotten Son, in triumph of glory.
The soul that is not understood cannot be consoled. Your soul, O my Christ, a mystery and a wonder of divine love, because it is the soul of the Word, has an incomprehensible capacity for us as regards love and pain, which on earth has never been embraced nor will it ever be. And since the soul is consoled insofar as it is understood, that part of the soul of Christ that remains not understood receives no comfort either; and, since His capacity exceeds almost infinitely ours, that mysterious, profound and transcendent part, to which we will never be able to reach out, remains comfortless, and that is why: “I looked for comforters, but I found none.”
“And as the Holy Spirit, when He kissed Her in the murmur of his love, in the caress of his breeze, in the embrace of his power and in the fruitfulness of his Kiss, made Her love of his infinite love, in participation in his charity in donation of Spouse, so the Word, when He called Her: Mother! made Her so much Word, so much! that the Virgin, as an expression of the reality that She was and lived by the power of the grace that had been poured over Her, could call God: my Son! The eternal Father giving himself to Her in such fullness of wisdom and with such an experience of the divine mysteries, that, plunged into the depth of God, She intuited overwhelmingly what the Being is himself in himself.”
